美国总统福特是11月29日上午乘飞机离开美国首都华盛顿，取道阿拉斯加、日本前往我国访问的。福特总统在启程前发表谈话说：“我将前往中华人民共和国以加强我们同那个伟大国家的新关系”。
On December 2nd, 1975, Chairman Mao Zedong met with US President Gerald Ford and his wife Betty Ford, as well as other personnel accompanying President Ford on his visit. After Chairman Mao shook hands with all the American guests one by one, he had a serious and meaningful conversation on a wide range of issues with President Ford in a friendly atmosphere.
US President Ford left Washington, the capital of the United States, by plane on the morning of November 29th and traveled to China via Alaska and Japan. Before setting off, President Ford said in a statement: "I will go to the People's Republic of China to strengthen our new relationship with that great country."
