On May 15 in the history of the Communist Party of China, there were the following important events and discussions:

On May 15, 1937, Mao Zedong received an interview by Wells, an American journalist. In the interview, he answered questions on such topics as the second round of cooperation between the cand the Communist Party of China, class struggle, fighting for democracy, and preparing for the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Mao stressed that the KMT-CPC negotiations are still ongoing, and the key is a political program of shared by the two parties, which is the basis for cooperation. In the face of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the issue of class struggle should be properly resolved. This conversation was included in the first volume of Mao Zedong's Collected Works .

On May 15, 1946, regarding the countermeasure to achieve armistice in Northeast China and how to prevent a national civil war from happening, Mao Zedong drafted a telegram on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to all central bureaus, sub-bureaus and Zhou Enlai and other important Party leaders.

In the telegram, it was pointed out that the Kuomintang did not dare to immediately start a nationwide civil war except for a major war in the northeast part of China. However, its preparations were unusually positive. Our Party's goal is to strive for an armistice in the northeast and prevent a civil war involving the whole country, or at least to postpone its outbreak. Attention should also be paid to persuading representatives and officials of the Kuomintang to show disapproval against the idea of a civil war. This telegram was included in the fourth volume of Mao Zedong's Collected Works.
